Born out of a simple idea and love of good music, Swing That Cat is on a mission with a message: DANCE YOUR TAIL OFF!
What more could you ask for from a band that sounds like the Sonic Cocktail of Jump Blues swizzled with Horny Swing, a dash of Cabaret, and a splash of Bourbon Street. This female-led band, backed by hepcats howling “Yo Philly” with horns, flute, guitar, bass and drums, have earned their stripes at shows and streaming around the world. Swing That Cat releases a new full length studio album "LEAP" in 2025. Follow Us: @SwingThatCat

Blending a revival of styles with rhythm and rumble of the 30s, 40s and 50s, Swing That Cat creates a Sonic Cocktail of Jump Blues swizzled with Horny Swing, a dash of Cabaret, and a splash of Bourbon Street. Front and center is Michele Peraino, a modern-day Rita Hayworth meets Catwoman, with a vocal style drawn from another era, and backed by hepcats that all howl, “Yo Philly” with their horns, flute, guitar, bass and drums.
“Jump Jive and Wail was popular during one of the lowest morale points in history because the feeling uplifted people, helped them shake off their troubles,” says Michele. “Our music is not trapped in an era - it’s a call to action that makes you shimmy, shake, and wanna leap off your seat to dance your tail off! “
Swing That Cat was born just outside Philly as a group of musicians met playing the annual One Night of Song and Dance festival in Wenonah NJ. Within a few years, Swing That Cat played over 400 dates from small clubs from DC to NY to regional festivals to The Philadelphia July 4th celebration that was Live Streamed in 2020. Swing That Cat has been one of the few original acts showcased on WXPN, WMMR, WRTI, and WSTW, cementing their cross-genre appeal throughout the Philly music scene.
Swing That Cat's new studio album, “LEAP” features 9 original songs released in June 2025 to streaming platforms and available in vinyl.
