Mindy Murray draws from her life experiences and oral histories to create edgy rootsy songs -- born out of a desire to have her music mean something, while telling the stories of hard working women and men. Many songs reflect farm life in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in the 30’s and 40’s and tales from the West Virginia mountains and coal fields. Murray sings with a palpable passion and intensity. Her songs have received rave reviews from major music journals, including fRoots, No Depression, and Irish Music Magazine, and she is a three-time winner in the International Women's Freedom Song Contest.

Mindy Murray, is a singer-songwriter who draws from her life experiences and oral histories to create edgy rootsy songs -- born out of a desire to have her music mean something, while telling the stories of hard working women and men. Many reflect farm life in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in the 30’s and 40’s and tales from the West Virginia mountains and coal fields where she worked the clinics while in medical school. Her “Blair Mountain” was recognized by the United Mine Workers of America and “Did Ya Vote” was chosen as an International Women’s Freedom Song in 2020. Her “Children’s March” was awarded first prize for her lyrics in 2023. Mindy's powerful songs have received rave reviews from the likes of fRoots, No Depression and Irish Music Magazine. Mindy was recognized as “Artist in Residence” in 2023 for Folk Music Notebook. Later in 2023, her song "George B Fell" about a flood along the Delaware River was the subject of an article in USA Today. In December 2023, Mindy was invited to premiere her “Cold Kentucky Rain” on the stage of the Lyric Theater in Lexington KY on the WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour.
