Phyllis Chapell

Philadelphia’s Phyllis Chapell—vocalist/guitarist—has spent her life developing a universal musical style singing “world songs.” She performs a unique mix of jazz, originals, folk, pop and international music, including songs in 13 languages and counting. Phyllis can perform full programs singing French, Spanish, Portuguese and Jewish music (in Hebrew, Yiddish, and Ladino). Phyllis has performed in concert throughout the U.S., Latin America, and Europe as a solo artist and with other musicians including, but not limited to the Ken Ulansey Whirled Music Ensemble and the Hot Club of Philadelphia. Phyllis has released multiple CDs and videos. Recently, a video of her song “Howling Wolf”—created by Emmy Award-winning director Rodney Whittenberg (MelodyVision)—earned the Bronze Medal at the 2025 Global Music Awards. The winner of numerous awards for her original music, Phyllis has also been chosen as one of Indie-Music’s Top 25.
