Genre(s): Americana, Singer-Songwriter
Format(s): Solo
Greg McGarvey is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and visual artist from the Delaware Valley. Greg used the guitars passed on by his father and grandfather to teach himself music. Equally at ease in a hushed theater or a rock club, he has performed his genre-hopping music both solo and with an ever-changing lineup of friends since 2001. His songs reflect his dreams and experiences, from the tragic to the ecstatic. His acoustic performances are often accompanied by storytelling where his electric performances are a vehicle for freewheeling instrumental improvisation. His 2024 album 'crickets surround,' a song cycle which explores the artist's early years in Bucks County, was recorded in Greg's Delaware Valley home with friends from the Philadelphia and New Jersey music scenes. It reflects the sounds and moods of his acoustic performances - often accompanied by Philadelphia area fiddler Frank Burk and the singer and multi-instrumentalist Caroline Feinman - and, with the help of Steve Guarino, his rock & roll side.
