Format(s): Solo
Recently retired from federal service, Ann began writing songs in 2022 and has finished dozens of songs in a variety of singer-songwriter and traditional/folk genres. She's played finger-style guitar almost her entire life, having picked up Travis style picking while in high school. She performs solo on her acoustic Martin D-18, and specializes in original story songs in the Americana and Anglo-Celtic genres. Listeners most often compare her delivery to Sandy Denny, Joan Baez, and Judy Collins, and she freely admits the influences of Richard Thompson and Eliza Gilkyson, from whom she has received instruction, on her writing and musicality. She spends more time writing than performing, but loves to share her songs as much as she can, usually in small venues, homes, or on line. Recently, she has begun working with a local producer to record her first LP.

Ann Ramsey is a new songwriter from Wilmington DE, who seems to have storytelling in her bones. Inspired by traditional story-songs and ballads, she’s written dozens of songs since she began writing in 2022. Her guitar work, singing, and lyrics are described as “entrancing,” and “haunting.” Her style is inspired by the work of Richard Thompson, Joan Baez, and Roseanne Cash. Ann is an accomplished finger-style guitar player, who has trained with Guy Van Duser among others. Ann went to high school in Toronto, and it was at the summer Mariposa Folk Festivals where she became inspired by seeing artists such as Michael Cooney, David Bromberg and June Tabor. Ann enjoys playing in alternative tunings, modal keys, and unusual time signatures. She’s active in the Philadelphia Area Songwriters Alliance (PASAmusic.org), and the Philadelphia Folksong Society (PFS.org). She’s listed on the artists roster of the Delaware Division of the Arts, from which she was awarded Artist Opportunity grants for FY 2023 & 2025. She’s an alum of Eliza Gilkyson’s Casa de Musica intensive songwriting workshops, and Richard Thompson’s Frets & Refrains songwriting camps. She writes songs in the singer-songwriter, American songbook, British Traditional, Americana, and Celtic genres. She is credited for the Harmony Vocals on Jon Burrowes 2024 Second Album. She is working on her own first LP recording, slated for release in 2025.
