Welcome Back: Spring Thing Great Groove Band!

PFS is thrilled to announce that the Great Groove Band is coming to Spring Thing!

School-age musicians (ages 6-17) are invited to bring acoustic instruments and voices to Spring Thing to join in The Great Groove Band. Working cooperatively as a band under the guidance of professional musicians and instructors, each day will include a morning session to work as an all-ages ensemble, and an afternoon session for teens to work in smaller groups. The band(s) will then get to perform during the Kids Open Stage on Sunday!

Who can participate in The Great Groove Band?

ALL musicians ages 6-17 are invited to join the band, and all voices, instruments, and skill levels are welcome! Everyone has a part to play in The Great Groove Band.

How can youth and teens sign up?

There are no additional fees, and extra registration is not required! It is possible to simply show up at Spring Thing with your voice and a dream and join The Great Groove Band.

Families with registered Youth and Teen attendees will be contacted with an opportunity to sign up in advance, but it is not a requirement for the program.

Meet the Great Groove Band Teachers!

Molly Hebert-WilsonSinger Molly Hebert-Wilson has degrees in Irish studies and musical theater from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She was a member of NYU’s Irish Folk Group at Ireland House and teaches Irish singing and language basics to children and adults at folk schools and festivals.

An experienced actress, Molly imbues Irish, French and English language songs with character and meaning, comedic to tragic. She is also a vocal coach, preparing children for performance at festivals in the northeast and Canada.

Molly coaches youth performances with the Great Groove Band every year at Old Songs and Philadelphia Folk Festivals. She does performance prep and works with all the singers, who learn lyrics in languages from Irish to Swahili!

Performing with her mother, Franco-American fiddler and teacher Donna Hébert, Molly sings and plays bass in the Mist Covered Mountains band, and can be found on their  This Distant Shore CD. Molly also performs with the Philadelphia Music Co-op band Rare Spirits, the Celtic band The Waysties, and with rock band The Rose West.

More teachers to be announced soon!
