Mark Schultz attended his first folk festival when he entered the banjo contest in 1966. Although he didn't win the competition, he developed a lifelong interest in the folk festival and the mission of the Society. He has continued to play the banjo since that time, as well as several other instruments. He currently plays with Mark Schultz and the Wayne Rangers, and the Acoustic Pompadours, and performs as a member of a Mummer's string band. Though music may always be his first love, he has been a practicing trial lawyer since 1975, and has tried over 60 cases in 10 states. He is a former President of the Montgomery County Bar Association and Chairman of the Pennsylvania Judicial Conduct Board.
