    Mara Levine

    Called "one of the best singers of her generation" by Christine Lavin, and "Golden Voiced" by David Amram, songfinder MARA LEVINE creates beautiful interpretations of songs in the folk, country and bluegrass genres. Her critically acclaimed albums Facets of Folk (2019) and Jewels and Harmony (2013) each reached #1 on the FAI Folk DJ Charts, and attained #3 album spots for the year. "You Reap What You Sow" by Susan Shann reached #1, and spent 22 weeks on the Bluegrass Today Grassicana Chart. Mara joined Bell Buckle Records in 2020. She was selected for 2009 NERFA Folk DJ, 2014 NERFA Quad and 2019 NERFA Semi-Formal showcases. Mara tours nationally and internationally, often sharing shows with the Long Island based harmony trio Gathering Time. Their single together “By My Silence” (Bukstel/Annis), was #1 for September 2017 and #19 for 2017 on the Folk DJ Chart. Mara also perform as a duo with Boston based songwriter Terry Kitchen. Chris Spector, of Midwest record described her as "the new standard bearer for folk music" after the release of her latest project, and according to Les Siemieniuk of Penguin Eggs, "The world needs more such interpreters of fine and contemporary folk songs."
