John has been attending the Philadelphia Folk Festival continuously since 1983 and as a volunteer since 1997. He is a member of the “Fortissimo” encampment in RV camping. He has served in leadership positions as assistant chair and chair of the Merchandise committee as well as associate director of the festival.
In his professional career, John is the Enterprise Systems Architect for Morgan, Lewis and Bockius, a worldwide law firm. He has been working in Information Technology for more than 30 years. John holds numerous technical certifications and has been published many times in the technical press.
Additionally, John is an active volunteer at the Lansdowne Folk Club (www.folkclub.org), often performing as MC. He is also the moderator of the “PhillyFolk” internet mailing list for Folk Music happenings in the Greater Philadelphia area.
John is an avid guitar and banjo player, playing a range of music from traditional, bluegrass, Maritimes and contemporary folk music. He is also a retired Scoutmaster, an Eagle Scout and has two sons that are also Eagle Scouts. He has served in many leadership positions in the scouting organization.
John now lives in Springfield, PA (Delaware County) with his loving wife of 40 years, Johnnie Sue. Together they have four grown children including the performing artist “The Rev. TJ McGlinchey” and four adorable grandchildren.
