A sensational Senegalese soul-rocker Master percussionist, Senegalese born singer-songwriter and performer Elage Diouf settled in Canada in 1996, to pursue a musical career that is still growing today. His music - a blend of pop, world, blues, folk and asiko - thrives at the artistic crossroad of artists like Carlinhos Brown, Peter Gabriel and Andres Cepeda. The musicality of the wolof language explains his singing mainly in his mother tongue. He also received the Galaxie Rising Star Award for his performance at the Mundial Montreal show. In 2015, Elage launched his awaited second solo album, Melokáane, (”reflection” in wolof). Co-produced by Elage and Alain Bergé, the album offers many collaborations such as with multiplatinum singer Johnny Reid and guitarist Jordan Officer. Melokáane receives many accolades, including a nomination for World Music Album of the Year at the Gala de l’ADISQ (Québec), and a nomination for World Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards (CANADA). The album also allows Élage Diouf to be a finalist for the Charles-Biddle prize, and to receive a certification from the Québec Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion, which salutes his exceptional contribution to the cultural and artistic development in Québec. Melokáane is also noticed around the world, being rated number 5 in the World Music Charts Europe (WMCE) and number 17 in the Transglobal World Music Chart (TWMC). In 2016, while Melokáane gets available wordwide, the prestigious world-music magazine and radio show AfroPop Worldwide quotes the album in its list of recommended records.
