A progressive seven-piece roots collective, the Wissahickon Chicken Shack rocks keys and drums (progressive, right?) while plucking and sliding across five sets of acoustic strings that conspire to crack the cocoons of your most tired of huddled masses, pull out the inner honky-tonk heroes within us all and charm ‘em into swaggering out, calming down and taking it all in stride. Live, the Shack’s inspired acoustics send us soaring into crisp Appalachian air, crying with the lonely cactus of the dusty desertlands, and potentially, when things get very crazy, grooving along with a few spooky 60’s-era Frisco licks. It’s the goodtime, hip-shaking equivalent to buying you a frosty beer and fat slice of hummingbird cake. The heart wonders: why isn’t life always this much fun? |
